“ Rodney Scott's BBQ - 3 Protein Plate Review If you're looking for a masterclass in barbecue, Rodney Scott's Whole Hog BBQ delivers an experience that leaves you craving more with every bite. The 3 Protein Plate is the ultimate way to sample Rodney's skillful balance of smoke, seasoning, and tradition, and let me tell you -- it's worth every penny. The Pork: Rodney Scott is a pitmaster legend for a reason. The whole hog pulled pork is smoky, tender, and perfectly seasoned with his signature vinegar-based mop sauce that enhances the natural richness of the pork. It's moist without being greasy, tangy without being overpowering, and has just the right touch of smoke to keep it true to Carolina roots. The Chicken: You'd think the pork steals the show, but Rodney's chicken gives it a run for its money. Juicy, flavorful, and kissed with smoke, it's clear the bird was given the same love and attention as the hog. The crispy skin has a perfect char that adds a smoky crunch, while the meat stays tender and mouthwateringly succulent. The Ribs: And then there are the ribs. These beauties are smoky, sweet, and have just enough pull to remind you they're cooked low and slow -- the hallmark of true barbecue. The seasoning is spot-on, enhanced by Rodney's tangy sauce that clings to every bite without overwhelming the deep, wood-fired flavor. The bark is immaculate, giving you that caramelized perfection while the inside practically melts in your mouth. The Sides: You can't talk about Rodney Scott's BBQ without a shoutout to the sides. The collards are tender and seasoned just right, the mac and cheese is creamy with a satisfying golden crust, and the cornbread ties everything together with its buttery, slightly sweet crumb. Final Thoughts: The 3 Protein Plate at Rodney Scott's BBQ is a must-try for anyone who loves true Southern barbecue done right. It's a plate of pure craftsmanship, a celebration of smoke and tradition, and a testament to Rodney Scott's legacy as a pitmaster. If you're lucky enough to find yourself near one of his locations, do yourself a favor -- order the plate, savor every bite, and thank me later. 10/10. This is barbecue at its absolute finest. ”
“ This was hands down some of the best BBQ I ever had. The pork ribs were honestly the best ribs I ever had and I had a lot of ribs mostly in Texas. The smoke goes through entirely through the entire ribs. Also the pulled pork was the best I ever had. It was amazing but it was really those pork ribs that would keep me coming back here if I could. Service is also nice and friendly here and the servers were very pleasant. They have a lot of sauce available but honestly the food was so good by itself that no sauce was really needed. Hope I can come back here ”
“ So I completed the triple crown of Charleston BBQ (Lewis, Home Team, and RK's). Or am not giving credit for other better BBQ joints Charleston Locals?!? I would rank RK's #2 out of the 3 I mentioned above. Meats were better than Lewis, sauces were solid. Sausage was tasty and spicy, Alabama white sauce was banging delicious and so was the vinegar base sauces. I may say they have the best sauces in town but I do recall Home Team's meats being better which I put them at #1 overall. I would certainly come back, but Charleston tell me if there is more BBQ to try?!? Service was excellent and friendly and the ambiance was chill and casual with many inside and outside seating options. Oh ... the fries were delicious too! ”
“ Went to location while traveling with a friend. I was able to order sides while my friend has a full meal. Overall the food was good. My friend enjoyed their food as well. Service was good. Didn't have a car so can't speak to the parking but it didn't seem like it was an issues. The ambiance was fine for the food we were seeking. ”
